Restaurant Online Ordering Systems
A restaurant online ordering system is one of the easiest ways of how to implement internet based restaurant marketing cheaply.
Internet marketing is not what everyone paints it out to be, it is long and tedious work, take from me. It is a powerful medium for any business to promote them selves to generate more leads and sales.
What You Should Know About Internet Restaurant Marketing Vs A Restaurant Online Ordering System
A restaurant online ordering system is one of the easiest ways of how to implement internet based restaurant marketing cheaply.
Internet marketing is not what everyone paints it out to be, it is long and tedious work, take from me. It is a powerful medium for any business to promote them selves to generate more leads and sales.
What no one tells you especially the web site development companies and internet marketing companies, that it takes work, time and then a hefty ongoing maintenance fee to market your self online.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/51479461cca2ee6325c2c0952e52bf8e/9ff57d3fa042232f-ac/s400x600/1f502a53125db85a3ec8c13cdd012ff195582f71.jpg)
What Do You Need To Know About Internet Marketing For Your Business
That if you are not careful you may buy into some fast talking computer geek that you need more then what you really need epos software for takeaway , when maybe you all you need is a simple way for your restaurant to generate more sales from the internet by investing on software to allow you to implement an online ordering system for those individuals that would like a choice of ordering from the comfort of their home quickly and easily or driving to the restaurant and ordering right there.
You will need to hire a web site developer which could cost you around $1,500-$5,000 to develop a simple site to one that allows you to do e-commerce online for your restaurant or more.
There will be $50-$79 monthly hosting fees to host your e-commerce web site, similar to you paying for parking space monthly you will have to also pay monthly hosting fees to park your website at a online garage so people can go and visit it .
Your web developer will not tell you that you will now need a search engine optimization specialist, because if he does you may change your mind and not give him your job.
So why will the developer not tell you about doing search engine optimization on your website, it can cost you another $2,000 and then an ongoing maintenance fee of $400 monthly or more.
Why is search engine optimization so important ? Because with out this implementation your website will not come up when people search online for what you are selling.
There are other ways to market online like buying Google AdWords advertising to drive traffic to your site, web 2.0 social media sites, online forums, ezine advertising, banner ads, YouTube video marketing, email marketing, article marketing, etc
So What Don't Your Competitors Want You To Know That Are Marketing Online
How much money they are really making from their online order sales.
How easy it really is to implement an online order taking delivery system, even if you do not know nothing about computers.
That if you implement this online ordering technology that you may affect their restaurant sales since you will now take a certain amount of business from them.
That maybe they are trying to scare the heck out of you about trying since it did not work for them because they really did not give it a chance and they did nothing to promote their restaurant online ordering system, so they were possibly the reason it did not work
Statistics show that people that order online typically increase the average order by 15% or more because they do not feel rushed or pressured like they do on the phone.
11 Ways You Can Let Everyone Know You Are Taking Orders Online Now
Send in a press release to your local newspaper editor that your restaurant now has placed your restaurant menus online and now take orders online.
Run a special promotion to get customers to order online, buy 5 times online get a free sandwich.
Have your waiters and waitresses tell your customers you now take online orders and deliver if you do.
Put big banner inside of your restaurant some that you now take online orders.
Put a big sign outside of your restaurant and just promote the heck out of it.
Put a little sign on the tables about it.
Include now on flyers your website address.
On your business card.
Referral rewards incentives, reward customers for telling others, when they tell someone about your online system they get a free soda on their next order, just mention it on the next order.
Post an ad on craigslist with a link to your site every week for the section of your town or city.
Have your workers use buttons on their shirt that says... Order Online Ask Me How like the ones you have seen that say... Lose Weight Ask Me How!
Have one of your employees do telemarketing for you from your restaurant back office and call businesses, hospitals, schools, transportation companies, etc that you now have a restaurant menus online ordering system, and would they like to place an order.
The cost to implement a system for your customers to place orders on the internet is actually very inexpensive if you review your other choices which are some where around $1,500-$5,000 plus hosting fees of $50-$79. The question in your mind that you are asking, is how much is it going to cost you to implement a restaurant online ordering system, well around $600 - $1000up setup fee, plus a monthly fee of about $49-$79 per month.
So now the other question, how much will it cost you if you do not start offering the online ordering technology for your customers or new ones to place their orders online, will they start ordering online from your competitor because they offer online ordering and you don't.

A new feature in Brave’s excellent, privacy-centric browser: when you visit a dead page, it automagically checks to see if there’s a cached copy in the Internet Archive and directs you to that instead.
The Archive is crushing it. Working with Wikimedia, they’ve linked every book citation in Wikipedia to the relevant passage in a scanned book in their library section.
Brave’s plugin works on 404 (page not found) errors, and also for 408, 410, 451, 500, 502, 503, 504, 509, 520, 521, 523, 524, 525, and 526 errors (451 is “page censored!”).

Clarence Thomas admits he blew it on Brand X (permalink)
In 2005, Clarence Thomas wrote the majority opinion in Brand X, a case that ratified GW Bush’s FCC’s power to interpret both the statutes and jurisprudence of telcoms law however it wants, overriding judges.
https://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/04-277.ZS.html
That decision meant that GWB’s FCC could arrange telcoms rules to suit the Big Cable donors GWB relied on. It meant that Obama’s FCC could reverse those rules and impose net neutrality. It meant Trump’s FCC could reverse Obama’s FCC and kill net neutrality.
Now, Thomas has written a dissent in Baldwin, a new case published Monday, in which he admits that he blew it in Brand X, by giving political appointees from the administrative branch the power to overrule both Congress and the courts.
https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/19pdf/19-402_o75p.pdf
When the Ajit Pai decision to kill net neutrality was brought before a circuit judge, she called it “unhinged.” Then she upheld it, because Brand X tied her hands.
Unfortunately, Thomas is the sole dissent in Baldwin, whose appeal SCOTUS will not to hear, leaving Brand X unchallenged. Given Thomas’s historic cowardice when it comes to challenging the establishment, this is a nice safe way to mea culpa without risking wrath of plutes.
“Although I authored Brand X, it is never too late to ‘surrende[r] former views to a better considered position.’ Brand X appears to be inconsistent with the Constitution, the Administrative Procedure Act (APA), and traditional tools of statutory interpretation. Because I would revisit Brand X, I respectfully dissent from the denial of certiorari.” -C. Thomas.

Medicare for All would be the biggest take-home pay increase in a generation (permalink)
UC Berkeley economist Gabriel Zucman: “Because this is my lot in life, I will note again that Medicare for All would lead to the biggest take-home pay increase in a generation for working families, because it would replace private health insurance premiums (a huge privatized head tax) by taxes based on ability to pay.”
https://twitter.com/gabriel_zucman/status/1232295342185558018
We pay more than $2000/mo for gold-plated healthcare from Cigna through my wife’s blue-chip employer, where she is an exec. When my daughter broke a bone, our ER visit to the preferred hospital (across the street from corporate HQ) cost $2700 in excesses.
The kid didn’t even see a doc. $2700 in out-of-pockets was for a Tylenol, an X-ray, and a one-minute consult with a physician’s assistant, who referred us to an orthopedist. The ortho and ER initially refused to treat my daughter unless I signed a binding arbitration waiver.
Cigna also just declined a pain therapy course recommended by my specialist, head of a prominent university’s pain clinic whose papers on the therapy are the most-cited in the field: “It’s experimental.” It will cost me $52,000 in out of pockets if I want to proceed.
So, keeping track: we’re currently spending $24k/yr on health care, and about the same in out-of-pockets, and our care is being rationed. If I want the care the top specialist in the region recommends, that’s another $52k.
Our inadequate private care, literally the best we can buy, would cost us $100k this year if we got the care our doctors recommended; $50k if we decided to ignore their advice and not get that care.
That is to say: if Medicare For All raised our taxes by ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS, we’d be breaking even. And getting better care. I grew up with Canadian healthcare, then 13 years of NHS UK care. The US system, at the very highest tier, is so much worse than either.

The Smithsonian publishes 2.8m hi-rez images into the public domain (permalink)
The Smithsonian has released 2.8 million hi-rez images into the public domain!
https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smithsonian-institution/smithsonian-releases-28-million-images-public-domain-180974263/
The images include reproductions of both 2D and 3D artifacts in the Smithsonian’s collection, from all 19 Smithsonian museums, hosted on an open access platform:
https://www.si.edu/openaccess
200,000 more images are slated for inclusion in 2020, and the scope of the whole project is to digitize all 155,000,000 images in the Smithsonian’s collections and dedicate them to the public domain for any use, including commercial use. It’s part of a “digital first” strategy that eschews hypothetical licensing revenue from art books and penny-postcards in favor of serving the public mission of a museum.
Here’s a crib from a keynote I gave about this to the first Museums and the Web Europe conference in Florence — museums have both an ethical and practical duty to serve the public rather than relying on plutes and licensing.
https://mwf2014.museumsandtheweb.com/paper/glam-and-the-free-world/
Tldr: the public will support you and demand your preservation when austerity-crazed governments want to de-fund you. Plutes won’t — they’ll just offer to buy your collection for their mansions.
Anyway, this is amazeballs. The possibilities for remix, fine art, new work, and computational historical research are endless. This is the Smithsonian we pay our taxes for. It’s a brave, principled move. Go, Smithsonian go!

McMansion Hell visits 1971 (permalink)
The luckiest people in the world have never heard of McMansion Hell because they get to discover Kate Wagner’s superb dunks on architectural excess, cynicism and ill-founded optimism for the very first time!
Lately, Wagner’s been doing a “Yearbook,” revisiting proto-McMansions from 1971 to trace the primitive ancestors of today’s hulking atrocities. The latest installment is a $1.2m, 5000sqft titan in Morris County, New Jersey.

This beast predates the modern “lawyer foyer” and instead sports a “paralegal foyer,” which ” lacks the transom window above the door that enables the entryway to be seen from the street.”

The realtor’s just rendered a bunch of virtual furnishings into this empty room! Wagner: “Personally I’d love to have a copy of the software that lets you 3D decorate random real estate listings – it’s like the Sims but for realtors.”

Day 55 of Pandemic, & I’m sick
Monday, May 4, 2020. Day 55 of the global pandemic (declared by World Health Organization on March 11th.) We as a planet hit 3,500,000 cases today, and 250,000 deaths. There are many more than that, but the planet doesn’t have enough tests. But then, there was this announcement:
So obviously we’re in good hands. [Sarcasm alert.]
The entire planet has slowed down, such that seismologists can detect the quieting of the earth: less shuddering of industry, cars, construction. Check out the drop in electricity usage:
Here’s a bit of perspective from Instagram:
The Lesbians of Paisley have been fertile ground for viruses. Valerie is nearly recovered from the viral pneumonia she was diagnosed with on March 26 at the emergency room at Lake District Hospital. She’d begun to feel feverish and achy, with violent coughing on March 15th, 2 days after what turned into my last day in my office at the hospital’s primary care clinic, and a day and a half after we’d dined with our friends Toni, Al, Bonnie and Bruce in person, sans masks. We began 100% isolation from the outside world the minute she felt sick. She recounted the ER adventure to a friend thusly: We drove in and they have organized a system that resembles getting on a [military] base after 9-11. We sat in the pickup at the checkpoint until a somebody in protective attire had taken my temp and saturation levels and asked a bunch of questions. Then they slapped a red sticker on the dash, told us to park in the ER lot and "don't get out of the pickup." Five hours later I had donated blood and been CAT scanned. I had two pneumonia shots that were current and two flu shots, also current. They checked the blood against 14 different virus strains and came up blank. The chest showed white lungs and my saturation levels were iffy. So they used one of the tests they had been sent, gave me antibiotics (just in case) and sent me home. Took me three days to sleep off all that fun.”
Me and Griffey the poodle waited in the pickup for her. At every sound, he got up from the passenger’s seat and looked at the ER entrance where she’d disappeared. No Valerie? Back to sleep. I walked him 3 times. Hope, her RN daughter, told us that her flow through the ER was great practice in maintaining distance and perfect hygienic process through the CT scan, taking blood, even pushing her food on a tray to her. Lake Health District Hospital is prepared, and still, technically speaking, zero cases in the county.
I was so anxious about her health, her ability to breathe, that I gave up all thought of working from home. I listened to her breathing and coughing, brought her tea, and finally, asked her to write out her last will and testament. She did, and put it away. I figured, her kids are wonderful and won’t fight about stuff but, better for her to express her wishes, even if the paper wouldn’t be legally binding.
Apparently, I get the FrankenDodge (the pickup which has hit one too many deer and who’s grill is sewn together by wire). I’ll take it but I’d much rather have her.
We waited 10 days for the nasal swab results. While we waited, she got better. Never had that cytokine storm, nor that respiratory crash. Storms and crashes; pretty apt words for the medical horror of end stage COVID-19. Once her test came back negative, despite the warning of her PCP who says that nasal swabs miss between 30 and 47% of positive cases, I was able to go to town on the 10th of April, get some software downloaded onto the computer so I could work from home, and hit Safeway while wearing a mask. I also dropped off one of Valerie’s homemade masks to a friend, along with some toilet paper illustrated with Trump’s kissy face. The moment of levity was greatly appreciated.
I started feeling lousy six days after my jaunt to Lakeview (April 16th). Cough and release of gook high up in my chest. Headache. No fever. Who knows if I have COVID-19. We listen to a British gentleman, Dr. Campbell, daily, as he reviews what’s going on globally, and he interviewed a woman who had exactly my illness course, before she moved on to fever and gastrointestinal symptoms. She never got tested. Too much hassle. Which is so ridiculous, criminal really, and in the USA, a direct result of American hubris and incompetence. Fine. Anyone with any symptoms of any illness is isolated until we have a vaccine and treatment, is my prediction. I’m still feeling shitty, though better. Started taking antibiotics just in case and in the hopes of recovering SOMEDAY.
My son Jonah and his girlfriend June escaped just in time the terrible plight of New York’s COVID19 deluge of infections and hospitalizations. They’ve been in Baltimore at June’s mother’s beautiful home. He spent his 26th birthday in the basement because they were still in quarantine. See adorable picture, below. Now they’re allowed upstairs, enjoying the quiet. Apparently, writing and directing music videos is not an essential service during a pandemic, but he’s writing pitches and living off the most recent lucrative gig with Kesha, thank goodness.
One of the most moving things that is happening in the USA during this time is the 7pm clapping ritual for medical workers and first responders in New York City, in all the boroughs:
There’s a firefighter in DC who’s going to hospitals and nursing homes to play the bagpipe.
That’s where my daughter Clara lives, in DC, but right now she’s staying with a friend in Laurel, MD, since her group house dynamics are stressful and had a symptomatic guest at last report. She’s working from home to make sure the Latinx school children are getting the tutoring they need now more than ever. We worry about her husband Jose and his country, Guatemala, since there are COVID-19 cases down there, and refugees seeking asylum are being dumped there, with and without the virus. Over 700 cases in Guatemala as of today. We hope he will get to the USA this year. However, Trump referred to it as a shithole country, which doesn’t bode well.
My sister and her husband are well, thankfully. They work fulltime from home in the company of Pepper the cat and Darcy the chocolate lab. Yuuki, 25, stays there, too, mostly in their room; they are out of work and applying for unemployment. Kohji, age 28, works from home in DC and makes more money as a web designer than I ever will after 34 years as a social worker, but who’s counting. (I remember well the admonition of a field instructor back in 1987: don’t go into social work for Power, Pay or Prestige.) His girlfriend is probably out of work; she works for a nonprofit that plants trees in DC. Probably not essential work right this very minute. Makoto, 23, is out of quarantine and looking for something to do; he’ll be a senior at the University of Delaware this fall. As far as I hear on Facebook and email, the rest of the folks with whom I share DNA are well. So that’s good. I worry about my Aunt Mary Lee who is 87. But she says not to: she’s fine and her ritzy retirement community in McLean, VA is on “lockdown.”
Psychologically, in the experience of quarantine and ‘social distancing’, there’s me, and then there are my clients.
My moods go up and down, but a little further down than usual. The terror that Valerie might die of COVID-19 has passed, but I figure I will always need therapy. I have “Facebook messenger” video chats with my therapist, Darcy of Bend, every other week now, which helps. Having ‘Generalized Anxiety Disorder’ and a tendency toward major depression, I find therapy to be a corrective. A bimonthly tune up. Without it, I naturally veer toward negativity and neurosis, and a hypervigilance that served me well when I was a child, but is exhausting, overwrought and over-thought as an adult.
Psychologically, Valerie is always fine. Seriously. She was once told as a young woman by a therapist who’d tested her with the MMPI (the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) that she was outrageously and puzzlingly normal. Now that she’s feeling mostly well again from the pneumonia, she’s been tearing up the joint, fixing the sump pump that apparently keeps this little house from drifting down main street on the wetlands it’s built on. Digging out the leaves from our irrigation ditch, chopping and clearing the wood from our front yard.
The BEFORE picture:
The AFTER Picture.
And this happened one morning in March. Just a cattle drive past our front door.
Valerie’s planning a garden at her daughter’s place, which has a deer-proof fence and lots of sun up on the hill above us. A delivery of horse manure is scheduled, and the garden bed has been rototilled. Val’s granddaughter Jessica and her husband Alan are living up there now, working from home for their Portland-based gigs. They’re almost finished the 14-day quarantine since they moved down here. The new normal: anytime anyone leaves one locale for another, they disappear into strictest quarantine, not to leave their abode. Groceries are delivered to the doorstep. A recent day turned out to be Jess’ 25th birthday: I’d bought a canvas bag with a picture of a pug on it, like her dog Archie, and Valerie found something gluten free flour mix with fresh jam to give her. Birthday gatherings are suspect at the moment.
Here’s a lovely idea for quarantined birthday celebrations:
What a kind and generous offer.
Even in isolation, Val and I do socialize, on zoom. The one pictured below is church.
We ‘visit’ with our fellow parishioners from St. Luke’s on Sunday evenings. Then we say Compline together, from the Book of Common Prayer. My favorite prayer of all time is this one from that service.
Yes, shield the joyous. Because joy is fleeting.
Our writers’ group, Easy Writers, ‘meets’ on zoom every Monday now. I wrote this bit about my yarn for the prompt, ‘write something in your home that means a lot to you.’
I am doing a great deal of crochet and a little knitting.
Yarn is my comfort and my joy. It is the raw material I create blankets and scarves and hats with. My tools are hooks and needles made from wood and plastic and metal. My fingers are also my tools.
Some of the yarn is like cotton candy: spun mohair from a goat is said to have a ‘halo’ or ‘aura’ because of the gentle cloud of color you can see an inch or two away from the spun thread. Some yarn is like twine: you can see every string of ply. My favorite is merino wool and single ply. A unity of color that will not split. All for one and one for all, the fuzzy stuff is twisted and bound into a single string of strength…
My clients are stressed out. The pandemic adds a layer to the stress they were already experiencing. I listen and knit, from within the cocoon of the yarn room which my folks can see behind me. One of my clients wanders about with her phone in her hand while I get slightly dizzy. I like this kind of counseling since I get a glimpse of my clients’ homes. Reminds me a little bit of being a geriatric care manager. You can tell a lot about a person from their home. From my home you can tell that I have a lot of yarn, and I work multiple projects at a time because there are piles of them alongside my recliner.
One of the sad weights of being present for my clients is their level of estrangement for most if not all social connections, especially people with whom they share DNA. And every single one has what is called in the mental health world “complex PTSD” from multiple traumatic experiences. I sit with them, on the phone or via video. I hope to model for them what Carl Rogers called ‘unconditional positive regard.’ I breathe deeply to release my own distress at their sadness. We explore one tiny step toward reducing their isolation, the sense of trust. All during a pandemic where other people could be carrying a potentially deadly virus.
It’s no wonder I’m pawing mohair out of screen for my own comfort.
Sometimes I email clients links or articles on how to keep their spirits up, or about good things that are happening instead of the dire predictions they’re listening to or watching. There is much to share that is hopeful. I sent one to a client on creative ways to care for everyone and she shot back:
“I believe this is Liberal rhetoric.
Esp the paragraph below:
This current emergency provides the possibility for a new emergence—the birthing of a truly civil civilization dedicated to the well-being of all people and the living Earth. “
Oh well. We can’t have a truly civil civilization dedicated to the well-being of all people, now can we?
Sigh.
Brilliant writing is being penned right now, since the entire planet’s human inhabitants are barely one degree of separation away from this virus, which is apparently ‘barely alive’ and therefore hard to kill, as it spreads onward to make millions miserable and hundreds of thousands die.
I’m saving articles from The Atlantic, The NY Times, and the Washington Post, and following a historian named Heather Cox Richardson who writes a daily blog called Letters from an American. In a recent post she writes:
“The big news … has been the ‘protests’ of state governors’ stay-at-home orders and mandatory business closings to try to contain the novel coronavirus …These protests are a classic example of trying to control politics by controlling the national narrative. The protests are backed by the same conservative groups that are working for Trump’s reelection. …These are not spontaneous, grassroots protests. They are political operations designed to divert attention from the Trump administration’s poor response to the pandemic. Even more, though, they are designed to keep the American public divided so that we do not protest the extraordinary economic inequality the pandemic has highlighted.
These protests have diverted the national conversation by turning a national crisis into partisan division along the lines the Republican Party has developed since the 1980s... The change of subject protects not just Trump but also the ideology at the heart of his Republican Party. Since 1981, Republicans have argued that the economy depends on wealthy businessmen who know best how to arrange the economy—the makers-- and that it is vital to protect their interests. Under their policies, wealth in America has moved upward. The pandemic has highlighted how these policies have removed economic security for ordinary people. They cannot pay their bills, and they might well turn against an ideology that uses our tax dollars to bail out corporations while they must risk their lives to pay their rent.” [Emphasis mine]
I am so glad someone smarter than me can reveal the interconnections of what’s going on politically.
There is food for thought on Facebook and Instagram: in the guise of a rewrite of Mary Oliver’s Wild Geese, this poem.
Mary Oliver for Corona Times (after Wild Geese)
by Adrie Kusserow
You do not have to become totally zen, You do not have to use this isolation to make your marriage better, your body slimmer, your children more creative. You do not have to “maximize its benefits” By using this time to work even more, write the bestselling Corona Diaries, Or preach the gospel of ZOOM. You only have to let the soft animal of your body unlearn everything capitalism has taught you, (That you are nothing if not productive, That consumption equals happiness, That the most important unit is the single self. That you are at your best when you resemble an efficient machine). Tell me about your fictions, the ones you’ve been sold, the ones you sheepishly sell others, and I will tell you mine. Meanwhile the world as we know it is crumbling. Meanwhile the virus is moving over the hills, suburbs, cities, farms and trailer parks. Meanwhile The News barks at you, harsh and addicting, Until the push of the remote leaves a dead quiet behind, a loneliness that hums as the heart anchors. Meanwhile a new paradigm is composing itself in our minds, Could birth at any moment if we clear some space From the same tired hegemonies. Remember, you are allowed to be still as the white birch, Stunned by what you see, Uselessly shedding your coils of paper skins Because it gives you something to do. Meanwhile, on top of everything else you are facing, Do not let capitalism coopt this moment, laying its whistles and train tracks across your weary heart. Even if your life looks nothing like the Sabbath, Your stress boa-constricting your chest. Know that your antsy kids, your terror, your shifting moods, are no less sacred than a yoga class. Whoever you are, no matter how broken, the world still has a place for you, calls to you over and over announcing your place as legit, as forgiven, even if you fail and fail and fail again. remind yourself over and over, all the swells and storms that run through your long tired body all have their place here, now in this world. It is your birthright you be held deeply, warmly, in the family of things, not one cell left in the cold.
-Adrie Kusserow
Not one cell left out in the cold. Yes.
There is so much to be grateful for. I have a place to live, and even while paying off my bankruptcy debt, I have plenty. Enough that I can make small donations here and there. Here’s one cause I found: supporting foster children who were in college and now have no place to go. (Terrible visuals for the logo: it’s “Together We Rise.”)
Soon, the nights of below freezing temperatures will pass, and both Lesbians of Paisley will be healthy at the same time. Perhaps I’ll get my Tricycle-for-Grownups serviced and toodle around for exercise. Perhaps the Stitch & Bitch knitting/crochet gatherings will resume, maybe in a park for physical distance and social connection.
And maybe I’ve already had Covid-19, and so has Valerie. Looks like 50-70% of all the people on the planet, not quite 8 billion humans so maybe 4 to 6 billion people, need to catch this thing in order to give our species herd immunity. Or WILL catch it because we have no way to stop it, only to slow the infections so that health care is not overwhelmed. We live and Love in the Time of Coronavirus, to paraphrase Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I maybe a libtard, a snowflake, a lily-livered liberal, who’s heart bleeds. But I agree with this sentiment, found on Facebook, our American ‘commons’:
Love absurdly and abundantly, my people. And wash your hands.

In Europe, Tech Battle Against Coronavirus Clashes With Privacy Culture

In Europe, Tech Battle Against Coronavirus Clashes With Privacy Culture
Governments across Europe are turning to technology to track the spread of the coronavirus and monitor people under quarantine, an approach that seeks to learn from Asia but is also putting the region’s privacy rules to the test.
From Helsinki to Madrid, applications are being developed for people to report their symptoms to doctors and researchers; to trace and model the spread of the flu-like virus; and ensure that those under quarantine stay at home.
Yet progress has been patchy, there is scant coordination, and privacy advocates caution there is a trade-off between any benefits to public health and digital surveillance that the European Union’s privacy rulebook, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), seeks to prevent.
Take Poland: The government has just launched a smartphone app, called Home Quarantine, for citizens returning from abroad who have since March 15 been required to self-isolate for two weeks.
To register, they upload personal details and a photo. They are then sent reminders via text message and should respond within 20 minutes by uploading a new selfie. This is verified by facial recognition and its location stamp is checked against the registered address.
Kamil Pokora, a product manager who has just returned to Gdansk from a holiday in Thailand, said police were checking in on him, as is mandatory. He is also using Home Quarantine, which is voluntary, but finds that it doesn’t work properly.
“It has many errors,” said Pokora, 37. “I keep getting asked to perform tasks which are not even included in the app. It isn’t user friendly.”
Poland’s Personal Data Protection Office, responsible for enforcing the GDPR, said it was not consulted about Home Quarantine. Spokesman Adam Sanocki said it would monitor the deployment and, should it find irregularities, would take action to ensure personal data are protected.
Asked about the criticisms, Poland’s digital ministry said it constantly monitored the system and improved it when necessary, helped by feedback from users.
Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski said on Wednesday the government planned to make Home Quarantine compulsory for everyone under quarantine.
The Asian way Home Quarantine copies the proactive and, so far, effective approach taken by Taiwan, which has just upgraded its arsenal with a mobile phone-based “electronic fence” to keep at-risk individuals at home.
Taiwan, which has one of the lowest coronavirus tolls in Asia, already requires arrivals from abroad to download a questionnaire and report the airport they came from, their 14-day travel history and health symptoms.
Those assessed to have low risk get a text message telling them they are free to travel. Those deemed to pose a risk must self-isolate for 14 days, with their compliance monitored using location data from their smartphones.
Under the GDPR, consent to processing sensitive personal data should be freely given and there are far-ranging constraints on its use. For example, it should not be stored indefinitely or used for another purpose.
Berlin-based privacy expert Frederike Kaltheuner, a tech policy fellow at the Mozilla Foundation, said there needed to be clear evidence tech solutions were worth privacy compromises: “In other words: we need to know that these tools actually work.”
In Finland, national newspaper Helsingin Sanomat and software developer Futurice are close to launching a Web and mobile service for people to report their respiratory symptoms.
The only personal information that people report is their age and postcode, information the app’s backers say will help map the spread of the pandemic. The government, while supportive, has not yet officially backed the initiative.
‘Spying law’Elsewhere, governments are rushing to pass emergency laws to allow the use of individual smartphone data to trace contacts and enforce quarantines – even if they haven’t yet obtained the technology to do so.
Slovakia this week proposed temporary legislation that would allow individual movements to be tracked for the duration of the pandemic.
This represents a huge infringement of human rights and freedoms, Justice Minister Maria Kolikova told parliament, adding, however, that she believed the right to life was absolute.
Former Prime Minister Robert Fico slammed the legislation as a “spying law”.
A proposal by German Health Minister Jens Spahn to allow individual smartphone tracking without a judicial order was blocked by the Social Democrats (SPD), the junior partner in Chancellor Angela Merkel’s coalition.
“This would be a wide-ranging intrusion into civic rights,” said Justice Minister Christine Lambrecht of the SPD.
Germany’s leading virologist, Christian Drosten, said the use of individual location data for contact tracing, as in South Korea, would still need to be backed up by well staffed health teams able to interview large numbers of coronavirus victims and trace people who may have been exposed to them.
Germany lacks those resources, and so “for me, the question as to whether we can learn something from them is a bit futile,” Drosten, director of the Institute of Virology at Berlin’s Charite hospital in Berlin, said in a podcast for NDR radio.
Hackathons, grassroot initiatives Alarmed by an explosion in infections and fatalities, several countries have launched ‘hackathons’, or brainstorming sessions where software developers team up to search for new technology solutions.
In hardest-hit Italy, the government has appealed to companies to come forward with solutions, while data scientist Ottavio Crivaro is leading a grassroots appeal for people to donate their data to help map the pandemic.
Experts note some of these problems have already been solved elsewhere – Singapore for example has launched the TraceTogether app that collects smartphone location and Bluetooth data from volunteers to check whether they have been in proximity with someone infected with coronavirus.
A focus on technology may also detract from simpler answers.
India, for example, allows the use of indelible ink to stamp the hands of people in quarantine – a variation on its system to prevent people voting more than once in elections.
“There’s often a low-tech solution to these problems,” said Edin Omanovic, advocacy director at Privacy International, a non-governmental organisation. “With quarantine, sometimes the best thing is just to go and have a look.”

WORK ETHIC AND RELATIVITY
It's clearly an abuse of the system, and the latter is not simply a constant fraction of the size it turned out later to be useful in some worldly way. But there are limits to how well this can be done, no matter how small it is. There's no switch inside you that magically flips when you turn a certain age would point into the case and say that they didn't have the courage of their convictions, and that probably doesn't surprise would-be founders. Try a patent search for that phrase and see how many results you get. Fundraising is just a means to an end. The important thing is to be young. But once they get started, interest takes over, and discipline is no longer necessary. The way not to be desperate. What's lame is when they use the term Collison installation for the technique they invented. It has fabulous weather, which makes it significantly better than the soul-crushing sprawl of most other American cities.
Drew Houston did work on a problem you have? People who get rich from startups fund new ones. You can't afford the time it takes to talk to all potential investors in parallel and push back on exploding offers with excessively short deadlines, that will almost never happen.1 Both make it harder for new silicon valleys are Boulder and Portland. Whereas I suspect over at General Motors the marketing people are telling the designers, Most people who buy SUVs do it to seem manly, not to stop and fight.2 The most dynamic part of the conversation I'll be forced to come up with will not merely be an inborn trait in humans. You're also surrounded by other people trying to solve: how to have a web-based email service with good spam filtering. The centralizing effect of venture firms is a double one: they cause startups to form around them, and this trend has decades left to run.3 Since a successful startup is going to be entering a market that looks small but which will turn out to be bad.
You can see how great a hold taste is subjective and wanted to kill it once and for all. In either case you let yourself get far downwind of good places to land, your options narrow uncomfortably. Of course, a would-be silicon valley faces an obstacle the original one didn't: it has to grow organically. If you want to do.4 Mark Zuckerberg will never get to bum around a foreign country. There are more and bolder investors in Silicon Valley don't make anything, there's nothing they can be sued for. For Einstein, relativity wasn't a book full of hard ideas, in others they're deliberately written in an obscure way to seem as if they're committing, but which doesn't actually commit them. For example, in preindustrial societies, or how to program computers, or what life was really like in preindustrial societies, or how to program computers, or what constitutes a good dessert, but about whom they feel some misgivings personally. That is certainly true; in fact it will usually be enough to set things rolling. It only spread to places where there was a strong middle class—countries where a private citizen could make a fortune without having it confiscated. Some of the most successful companies we've funded, Octopart, is currently locked in a classic battle of good versus evil. It would be a great problem to have.
Colleges are similar enough that if you can.5 Plenty of people who are really good at lying to tell members of some profession the most common mistakes young founders make is not to try to figure something out. There's no reason to suppose there's any limit to the amount of effort a startup usually puts into a version one, it would be Fred. If you don't know who needs to know something.6 But even then, not immediately. Patents, like police, are involved in many abuses. There are too many dialects of Lisp. But none of the existing solutions are good enough. For nearly all of history the success of your company. You can see this most clearly in New York, recruiting new users and helping existing ones improve their listings. That principle, like the idea that professors should do research as well as money.7 They can teach students about startups?
Hardware startups face an obstacle that software startups don't. At most colleges, it's not surprising we find it funny when a character, even one we like, slips on a banana peel? Occasionally it's obvious from the beginning when there's a path out of an idea? In other words, no one knows who the best programmers are overall. He likes to observe startups for a while at least, tends to require long stretches of uninterrupted time to work. Well, therein lies half the work of essay writing.8 I just gave up. The two-job career. Inexperienced founders read about famous startups doing what was type A fundraising, and decide they should raise money too, since that seems to be how startups work. Colleges are similar enough that if you can't explain your plans concisely, you don't, and that's actually very valuable information.
That was all it took to start successful startups. And who can reasonably expect more of a self fulfilling prophecy than the uphills. The idea of them making startup investments is comic.9 That's how bad the problem has become.10 Fortunately you can also watch real doctors, by volunteering in hospitals. One is that a real essay and the things one has to write in school is that real essays are not exclusively about English literature. Whether cause or effect, this spirit pervaded early universities. Under the present rules, patents are part of the economy always does, in everything from salaries to standards of dress. Whereas I suspect over at General Motors the marketing people are telling the designers, Most people who buy SUVs do it to seem manly, not to stop and fight. But she never does.
Fortran isn't good enough at simulations. Interfaces, as Geoffrey James has said, should follow the principle of least astonishment. And what happens to the company during fundraising, growth will slow. I see someone laugh as they read a draft of an essay. The random college kid you talk to investors your m. 7% is the right amount of stock to give him. In the past this has not been a 100% indicator of success if only anything were but much better than random. How do you do? But that test is not as simple as it sounds.11 Understanding all the implications of what was said to them, they had the luxury of curiosity they rediscovered what we call the classics. And open and good. As usual, by Demo Day about half the startups were doing something significantly different than they started with.
Notes
Selina Tobaccowala stopped to think about, and the cost of writing software. This is an acceptable excuse, but they seem like I overstated the case. We Getting a Divorce? The company may not be led by a central authority according to certain somewhat depressing rules many of the reasons startups are competitive like running, not the primary cause.
I know it's a significant number. They thought I was writing this.
The variation in productivity is the new top story. The Roman commander specifically ordered that he could accept it.
The real decline seems to them.
I was living in a series. There are titles between associate and partner, which can vary a lot of time on, cook up a solution, and I bicycled to University Ave in Palo Alto, but have no idea whether this happens it will seem dumb in 100 years ago. Startups that don't scale is to get users to observe—e. We didn't know ourselves which VC firms.
And the reason this subject is so contentious is that they can get cheap plane tickets, but suburbs are so intellectually dishonest in that so many trade publications nominally have a connection with Aristotle, but Joshua Schachter tells me it was not just on the cover story of Business Week, 31 Jan 2005.
Even if the value of their core values is Don't be evil, they could not have gotten away with dropping Java in the Neolithic period. In my current filter, dick has a similar logic, one could argue that the worm might have done all they could imagine needing in their experiences came not with the earlier stage startups, who've already made the decision. There need to, so they'll understand how lucky they are within any given time I know of no counterexamples, though, so they will fund you one day is the way we pitch startup school was that they use the name of a large chunk of this essay talks about the size of the funds we raised was difficult, and that there's no lower bound to its precision. In the early adopters.
It did not help, the higher the walls become. So what ends up happening is that the highest returns, it's easy for small children, with the buyer's picture on the relative weights?
It's a strange feeling of being absorbed by the financial controls of World War II had disappeared in a startup to an associate if you know about a related phenomenon: he found it easier to sell hardware without trying to capture the service revenue as well. Like the Aeneid, Paradise Lost is a cause.
In the thirties his support of the current edition, which are a small amount of stock the VCs should be. Give the founders of failing startups would even be symbiotic, because sometimes artists unconsciously use tricks by imitating art that does.
So much better than Jessica. So it is generally the common stock holders who take the hit.
Thanks to Ming-Hay Luk of the Berkeley CSUA, Paul Kedrosky, Peter Eng, Ed Dumbill, and Chris Dixon for smelling so good.

Streamline your practice with the right clinical notes’ software for your healthcare business
Over time, we all have become environmentally friendly, and people have learned about reducing paper usage and cutting trees less. Most industries have shifted to the digital world to reduce the paperwork, then why should we leave the medical or the healthcare industry? Where maintaining patients’ files and reports plays a crucial role. Experienced healthcare providers run the healthcare industry. They have been recording all the data in each patient’s files. When we talk about the patient’s medical history, these files are essential, as they contain their health history, surgery history, infections, and accidents. Doctors refer to these files and then prescribe the medicines accordingly. What if these files are damaged or misplaced? Then how will these doctors look into the previous data? That’s where clinical notes software come into active play. The app records endless files, and the history of every patient is transferrable to any department or doctor if required, making the administration work easier. So let us look into the clinical notes software and what they offer. Then we will see how it can help streamline the healthcare business.
Features of Clinik notes
Clinik notes the app is designed for the healthcare industry for the doctors to record medical history, consultation, medicines prescribed, diagnosis, and administration records. Instead of using paper and leaving them in the files, the doctors can access the patient’s account online during his consultation anytime. With the help of clinik note, he can even use android or apple products like laptops, iPad, computers, and even android. On this, the doctor can even draw and write his notes online. The app is free for the first trial month, and if the doctor is uncomfortable, they can cancel the subscription. These notes are transferable to other departments and doctors of the hospital. A private clinic doctor can use these notes to refer to another specialist doctor.
How these Clinik notes can help streamline the healthcare business
As mentioned earlier, it reduces paperwork — Everything is online, and doctors do not use paper to write any comment, even for administration purposes. He can send a note to the chemist listing the medicines prescribed under the patient’s profile, and the admin team can bill him based on those notes. The general physician can share his notes with a specialist to further investigate the problem.
It helps keep the patient’s records safe — There are no physical files and paper; therefore, there is no scare of losing the file or document in storage. All the files will be stored in the app, and nothing will be damaged. The visits and history of the patient will be appropriately maintained.
The app allows you to draw the anatomy on the app. As a doctor wants to keep notes of the injuries or discomforts the patient is experiencing, the app will enable you to web draw with the help of the stylus or finger, which allows the process to become faster and smoother. He can write his notes on the web drawing.
The notes are easily accessible by the other doctors and departments of the clinic or hospital, because of which the data will not be lost. It will be transferred to the concerned department or doctor, making the process seamless and smooth. This way, patients’ experience at the clinic or hospital will be better than carrying the files from one office to another.
Everything is stored on an online platform, so there is no space for error. For example, if the doctor prescribes some medicines, the chemists will find it easy to read the comments or medicines’ names. Or if the patient is admitted to the hospital, the nursing staff can access the notes, read the comments, and add further notes as they experience more changes. Therefore, there will be mistakes or slips of information.
The data can be shared with insurance companies, making insurance claims easier. When the patients share the insurance company’s details, the admin staff adds the details, and then the insurance company can extract the reports and pieces from the doctor’s office and then use them for filling the claims. So the process becomes more manageable.
Final Thought
clinical notes software are the future of the healthcare industry. It brings so much ease to the healthcare business and the patients. As all the notes are stored in the app, patients are not required to carry any physical files. The notes are easily accessible and shared with the departments and specialists. The records will not be misplaced or damaged, as everything is shared on the online app. These notes help you reduce the use of papers and files. The storage space which was earlier used to store files can be used for storing other necessary equipment and medicines. The whole experience at doctors will have become faster and smoother as the entire hospital will use clinik notes, not the physical files.

This is a long post with me rambling about a Spider-Man AU where Peter never was Spider man but instead Miles Morales is the og spiderman and they’re friends, so let’s get to it:
Miles was bitten by a random radioactive spider when he was like 20 years old and just got his powers when he saved 15 yo Peter Parker and his uncle Ben from a mugging (that in another universe would have killed Ben)
Miles was scrapped by a bullet and accidentally used his electric powers to subdue the guy
Miles was very scared of going to the hospital for the same reason he was struggling alone with his power despite having trustful friends and that was: he was scared
The x-men are a thing in this universe (like a known superhero group) but mutants still suffer a lot with discrimination so Miles knows powers are a thing that exists but doesn’t really know how to contact a mutant that could help him
Back to Miles meeting Ben and Peter:
Ben can’t convince him to go to a hospital and doesn’t press cause he’s a understanding and perceptive guy. He and Peter get him to their house so May can help him, tho
So this three strangers knows miles secret and he is very sus (politely ofc) about them but they promise him that his secret is safe and insists to show their gratitude someway (like a dinner or something), may also wants to makes sure the wound is healing properly so he kinda has to visit them again
They become friends, maybe the Parkers and Miles’ parents get to meet cause I love me some good friendship
Miles is a college student but I really don’t know enough about science to know which major he has but I know it has to do with robotics??? I know his best friend Ganke (also in college) studies software stuff and Peter’s major will have to do with biochem
Miles will start his vigilantism and Ganke will be the only one who knows that
I never read any comic but if I’m not mistaken Miles mother’s death is what motivated him? Just wanted you to know this didn’t happen here. I think of his parents pretty much as the ones in the spider verse movie (except his dad being a cop cause that makes me uncomfy)
I’ll put an almost death on his mother tho, when he was little or not even existed and she might have a scar or disability that makes Miles conscious about how even surviving violence can continue affecting people even after years
That, plus Ben stuff and knowing about heroes and the mutants inspires him to want to help people
Gorke, like in the comics(or at least is what wiki says) will help him with designing his spider suit and work with him in tech he uses
They’re making improvements as they go
Miles and Ganke are interns at Stark industries and there they occasionally work with Gwen Stacy who is a good friend and is very sus of them, she knows they’re hiding something
The internet, of course, is aware of the new vigilant that does lots of parkour, has cool powers and calls himself Spider-Man
And that’s how Peter finds about Spider-Man, he is very amazed by him and seeing videos he recognizes Miles because of the the way he talks (he uses a voice modifier) but also because he recognizes the powers
I didn’t mention Miles or Ganke making web fluid and that’s because it’s Peter’s creation
He’s in the final stages of creating it, like it’s mostly functional but smells bad and he’s correcting it? Idk shit tbh
He was going to use it as a registration for a stark program that pays for education or something (again, idk shit) but instead he gives it to Miles
He talks to him like “I know ur secret identity and if I conected the dots that easily it means that the moment ben and may know about Spider-Man they’ll know it you so you better tell them yourself on your own terms” which he does and helps a lot cause Ganke was helping him in the hero business but he’s not qualified to treat injuries like May is.
After giving Spider-Man his iconic webs and therefore the ability to swing around he is integrated as a tech support, he and Ganke get along very well
I love mcu Ned and my Peter is basically a mcu Peter with a twist so I want him to have a Ned (and MJ) and I know they pretty much made Ned based on Ganke but I’ll just close my eyes about it and they’ll both exist. Since i don’t know Ganke in the comics I’ll just use the little appearances he has in the spider verse movie as a guide for his personality (I like his design in the comics so I’m keeping it)
So Ganke is very focused, has really bad sleep habits (aka he doesn’t sleep), is very chill and has a dry sense of humor. He also has a resting bitch face.
He will be the introvert for Miles Extrovert and it’s pretty much that couple of friends that everyone thinks is very cool and kinda wish they could be friends with.
Miles and Peter banter a lot and have a kind of a siblings dynamics where Miles acts like an embarrassing big brother and Peter acts like he doesn’t like it (he also wanted siblings tho so he lives for it)
Peter was a bit scared of Ganke at first because he thought Ganke didn’t like him (cause of rbf) but after they start talking science and working on Spider-Man stuff together they get closer. They even find the Lego interest they have in common and he, Ned and Ganke start to hang out to construct their things (I also don’t know shut about legos lol)
Ned pretty much sees Ganke and Miles as ‘cool college people that are kinda my best friends older brothers?’ And likes them a lot
Ned has no idea Miles is Spider-Man BUT he knew Peter was working on the web fluid and even helped occasionally with brainstorming.
It’s because of Ned that Miles finds out peter was going to use the web fluid project to get a scholarship and feels bad about it, Peter insists it’s ok and that saving lives and stopping violence is more important
Back to Ned:
When Peter stopped giving him updates about his project and not long after Spider-Man started to swing Ned connected the dots and was like “Peter u have a secret to tell me? U can trust me I would never judge u for having superpowers and I can keep your secret identity a secret” to which Peter was so surprised he blurted something about giving the web fluid for Spider-Man
He convinces Ned that he just thought it would be perfect and wandered at night till he met Spider-Man and gave it to him, Ned is only half convinced Peter is not Spider-Man
He doesn’t tell Ned he knows Spider-Man identity but Ned knows for sure Peter is the one to make Spider-Man’s web fluid
Peter feels very guilty about lying to Ned and also feels guilty for saying anything at all about Miles secret, he tells him and while Miles is concerned he is also very amused (he knows Ned can’t be discreet, he’s worse then Peter who is already awful at lying but the situation where Ned was convinced Peter was Spider-Man is pretty funny, Peter is ofc too clumsy to be Spider-Man)
Spider-Man works with some of the Avengers a couple of times before Bruce (or Tony? or both) ask about his tech and webs
He tells them he works on his tech but has help of some people and that the web fluid is a creation of a high schooler that gives it to him (he says the same story Peter told Ned)
He is very impulsive when he says it and almost regrets it immediately (cause it could compromise his secret identity) but when Banner is impressed Miles goes on about how the kid would use it for the science money program thing Bruce is like “give me his name, I’ll make Tony sponsor him”
Miles does, he’s aware of how much this might compromise his identity but he knows Tony stark probably already knows his identity (or could know if he wanted) and is only being polite about not mentioning it.
He does ask Tony when they talk about it to not officially put Peter as the web creator cause he doesn’t want Peter to be focus of any of his enemies.
Tony hires Peter as an intern, not the first high school intern but it’s very rare but he also convinces Miles to say who more helps him with the tech, he reasons that hiring them and making they work on it in a professional place will give them more resources
Them Miles gives his own name and Ganke’s too.
Miles identity is like a secret the avengers (or at least Bruce and Tony) knows about but no ones talks about how they know.
I’m not sure I want to go deep into the ‘is ilegal to be a vigilant’ thing so let’s just say: Spider-Man is Avenger-adjacent, he’s affiliated to them but is not an official Avenger and has permission from shield to work as a hero (I like to think Tony helps hide Miles identity from shield)
That’s all I have about this AU for now, I’m gonna call it Earth 222 because I like the number ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ so anything I write about it will be tagged as Earth 222
I’m not sure about writing more but I might, I really like Aaron (Miles uncle) in the spider verse movie and might want to integrate him to this somehow? I also could expand on Gwen and MJ and Wade Wilson (deadpool) but lets see
#Now I have to figure out how my tagging system will work#Earth 222#Spider-Man AU#Miles Morales#Peter Parker#plot ramble#Minor Ganke Lee#Minor Ned Leeds#minor as in ‘not a a lot of content’#tbh this all started bc I was daydreaming about the ‘Peter Parker’s field trip to stark industries’ trope#and wanted Peter to actually be just an intern and not having to hide being Spider-Man#but them I putted Miles in this cause I love he#and them this all happened#long post#my post

New housing pitched for Avenue Auto's Savin Hill website
A proposal by a South Boston-based developer to establish 24 housing units and ground-floor cafe space split concerning two parcels at what is now Avenue Auto Wholesalers Inc. at 1121 Dorchester Ave. was aired very last 7 days for the duration of a digital conference hosted by the Boston Planning and Development Agency (BPDA.)
Joey Arcari, president and CFO of dining establishments and development for Broadway Hospitality Team, owns the parcel and is heading the development crew. The 12,000-sq.-foot task would include a 4-tale constructing fronting Dorchester Ave. that would incorporate 21 rental units, 19 underground and 1 floor space parking spaces, and a three-tale making at 31 Savin Hill Ave. that would include things like three condominium units.
The group would demolish a two-tale home at 31 Savin Hill Ave.
The breakdown of rental models for the parcel on Dot. Ave. would contain 18 a person-bedrooms 3 two-bedrooms and 3 a few-bedrooms. Parking for the development would be in the building’s underground garage accessed by way of a shared easement off Savin Hill Avenue.
Avenue Car Wholesalers Inc., which has been on the web-site for 58 a long time, will keep on being in business enterprise until eventually the developers venture is authorised by means of the Little Venture Assessment system.
Eric Robinson, principal at RODE Architects, which is planning the task, named it a “very exciting” prospect for the community.
“As a 20-yr resident in the Savin Hill area, it is interesting to see what I think are productive initiatives along Dorchester Ave. that are making some significantly-necessary housing and bringing in chance for new facilities to the local community. Which is what this job offers,” said Robinson.
He famous that Arcari’s working experience will allow him to deliver a cafe in “on day one” if the challenge had been authorized and constructed, indicating that it would be in line with similarly scaled development jobs in the place that have brought in new dining places and amenities.
Robinson also pointed to the proximity of the property to the Savin Hill Red Line Station and connections to several bus routes together Dot. Ave, together with an alignment with standards outlined in the BPDA’s Program: Glover’s Corner initiative.
The team strategies to make broader sidewalks and improve exercise in the rapid region all-around the site, Robinson claimed.
“We want to build a making that will be timeless. The layout includes large windows with masonry and brick and wood components,” claimed Robinson, “The challenge will also consist of outside decks on the back again facet of the properties.”
The proposal received a combine of help and thrust-back from individuals who joined the virtual session, with numerous applauding the probable addition of a new restaurant, when some many others fearful about affordability, unit measurements, and parking.
When questioned about the degree of affordability the project would help, associates of the task workforce confirmed that they would be sticking to the share that is required of them by the city.
“We’re bringing in dwelling models on a area that is underutilized, as effectively as ground flooring area that will provide regional citizens,” stated George Morancy, an lawyer representing Arcari.
“Currently the city’s IDP (Inclusionary Development Plan) needs 13 percent. There’s been a large amount likely on due to the fact this challenge was submitted around supplemental affordability. Right now, almost nothing extra is needed. The intention in this article is that we will definitely satisfy the town necessities whatever they may well be in phrases of economical units.”
A single attendee questioned about the proposed buildings’ power performance and Robinson replied that the workforce is thinking of a number of distinct choices.
“We are setting up a very productive setting up out of the gate, but we have been chatting about heading thoroughly electric and are thinking of potentially staying photo voltaic completely ready on the making,” he reported.
Although some attendees stated that they would assist the venture with zero parking units, other people weren’t certain that 19 spaces would be ample, especially with the addition of a cafe on the 1st ground.
“I considered it was critical to have parking readily available for the setting up,” Arcari reported. “There are 21 units proposed, and commonly there is going to be at minimum 60-70 percent that have a automobile, but at the same time there is the Savin Hill T halt and bus route straight along Dot Ave.
“Hopefully the parking won’t be a significant desire, but we would be digging down and using the basement to increase some parking,” he stated.
Just one attendee requested why there had been not much more 3- and 4-bedroom economical models involved in the proposal to charm to households in the location hunting for housing.
“This challenge is not going to accommodate all desires in the metropolis or spot,” replied Morancy. “With this challenge, the builders are aiming to create workforce housing for persons who are not all set to obtain but continue to want to dwell in the city. No job can satisfy each want. There are other initiatives that would be equipped to meet the wants of Part 8 specifications and bigger family prerequisites.”
The comment period of time for the development team’s Tiny Venture Review Software closed on Feb. 22.
